FlightAI EU project funded!
We are proud to announce that the FlightAI, ‘Flight plan artificial intelligence assistant’ project, of which QBT Sagl is a partner, has been funded by the European community (FET-OPEN program). Drones in Europe are a rapidly developing sector. Drone operations are classified in three categories with different administrative procedures, proportionate to the risk. To perform operations, it is normally required to submit a safety risk assessment. To develop this risk assessment, EASA recommends the SORA3 (Specific Operations Risk Assessment), a new methodology specifically established for drone operations.
The goal of the project is to integrate an AI-based solution to aid human compilation of SORA3.
Within the FlightAI project, QBT Sagl has the task of creating a GIS interface (called AutoPath module) to enter an air route (#flight_plan) and automatically calculating what is flown over (houses, industrial buildings, technological artifacts, public buildings, #route_information). By combining this information with the flight data, AutoPath computes the data to be provided to SORA3 for its work. Furthermore, AutoPath can change the route using external information, such as 'avoid flying over public buildings'.
The partners in the project are: LOCEN , ISTC-CNR; AI2Life srl; EuroUSC srl; Qbt sagl.
