The fourth mission of the Asclepios project at Sasso San Gottardo!

The fourth mission of the Asclepios project at Sasso San Gottardo!

Sasso San Gottardo, 8 July 2024.

At 11.25 a.m. on Tuesday, 8 July, with the participation of Claude Nicollier, the fourth mission of the Asclepios project officially began. Six students from all over the world will simulate a lunar mission by staying for 15 days in a bunker inside the historic Sasso San Gottardo fortress, which was covered by military secrecy until 2001.
During the mission, the six 'analogue astronauts' will live exactly like real astronauts in space: they will consume the same food, follow a strict programme of scientific experiments and physical activity, and communicate with the outside world exclusively via a control centre meticulously set up inside the fortress.
The start of the mission was preceded by an intensive training programme, during which QBT Sagl was involved in carrying out scientific tests in microgravity conditions and experiencing the sensations astronauts feel in space.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this project!

G0Flight mission dedicated to parabolic flights!

G0Flight mission dedicated to parabolic flights!

On 24 May, the G0Flight mission organised by QBT Sagl took place at Valbrembo airport, dedicated to parabolic flights with the participation of the "analogue astronauts" of the Asclepios IV project.

The objective, which was achieved with excellent results, was to train the analogue astronauts in the effects of microgravity in a small environment, typical of space capsules. In addition, it was possible to carry out scientific experiments in reduced gravity conditions with the exaggerated timing typical of aerospace activities.
Reduced gravity is achieved by means of a parabolic trajectory, during which near-zero gravity values are reached for about eight seconds.
Also taking part in the mission were students from Campus Ludes, engaged in research related to the psychological effects of being in space, as well as delegates from the University of Naples Federico II, with two important experiments.

We would like to thank Cantor Air IT.ATO.0004, for providing the I-ELLY C182 aircraft, and all the staff at the AVA Valbrembo airport for their impeccable hospitality and cooperation.

FlightAI EU project funded!

We are proud to announce that the FlightAI, ‘Flight plan artificial intelligence assistant’ project, of which QBT Sagl is a partner, has been funded by the European community (FET-OPEN program). Drones in Europe are a rapidly developing sector. Drone operations are classified in three categories with different administrative procedures, proportionate to the risk. To perform operations, it is normally required to submit a safety risk assessment. To develop this risk assessment, EASA recommends the SORA3 (Specific Operations Risk Assessment), a new methodology specifically established for drone operations.

The goal of the project is to integrate an AI-based solution to aid human compilation of SORA3.

Within the FlightAI project, QBT Sagl has the task of creating a GIS interface (called AutoPath module) to enter an air route (#flight_plan) and automatically calculating what is flown over (houses, industrial buildings, technological artifacts, public buildings, #route_information). By combining this information with the flight data, AutoPath computes the data to be provided to SORA3 for its work. Furthermore, AutoPath can change the route using external information, such as 'avoid flying over public buildings'.

The partners in the project are: LOCEN , ISTC-CNR; AI2Life srl; EuroUSC srl; Qbt sagl.

Moon Farside Protection!

Moon Farside Protection!

On 21 and 22 March, the first international symposium dedicated to the protection of the Moon's "hidden face" was held at the Lingotto's Sala Londra in Turin, in which QBT sagl participated as sponsor.

The event, sponsored by prestigious bodies such as the Italian Space Agency and the International Telecommunication Union, took on a worldwide dimension, as it hosted illustrious experts in various disciplines of the space sector from different nations.

The main objective of the meeting was to raise the awareness of the scientific, political and industrial community on the need to preserve radio silence at the relevant frequencies, on the Moon's Farside, and to prevent future missions from ineluctably jeopardising the current condition of quiet.

FinVA: Financial Intelligent Virtual Assistant

FinVA: Financial Intelligent Virtual Assistant

Presented on 16 February at the SUPSI headquarters in Lugano, the FinVA project, conceived by Cube Finance SA and developed in collaboration with Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI) and QBT Sagl thanks to funding from Innosuisse.

FinVa is an application that uses artificial intelligence with a machine learning process supervised by experts to assist the operator in client onboarding and continuous monitoring, in the area of transactions, but also in the compliance control of documentary records over time.

The use of artificial intelligence in FinVA enables banks and asset managers to benefit from active technological support that automatically and continuously assists operators in contact with customers and supervisory bodies.
FinVA helps to cover an important number of activities - from the pre-analysis of a prospect, to the mass verification of active customer files; from the onboarding phase of an individual customer to the monitoring of payment traffic for the purposes of anti-money laundering activities.

In the latter sphere, FinVA's stated aim is to use supervised machine learning to drastically reduce the number of reports - which all too often turn out to be erroneous and which weigh on the work of the bank's internal supervisory bodies - and to qualify by degree of severity the transactions that need to be investigated within the perimeter of supervisory/compliance activities.

It has been a real pleasure as well as an opportunity of professional enrichment for the whole QBT Sagl to be able to collaborate in the development of FinVA together with Daniela Koruna-Baldoni, the team of Cube Finance SA and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).

Special thanks to Federico Cecconi, CSO of QBT, for his professionalism and commitment in the realisation of the project.

NPL&UTP ALMA IURA - October 13th 2020

NPL&UTP ALMA IURA - October 13th 2020

The seventh edition of the event will be held on 13 October 2020 at the Gran Guardia, a historic building in the centre of Verona, a financial centre that has always been very lively as it is home to some of the major players in the Italian banking and insurance market.

The banking and financial world has gone from being complicated to being complex.

The "complicated" is what is difficult, but can be explained.

The "complex" is what is difficult to unravel, which cannot be explained with an analytical and simplifying approach, but needs a systemic approach.

We believe that the only way to govern complexity is to share ideas with the aim of tackling the most important issues in the field with a high degree of technical and scientific insight.

READ technology for the Vittoriale degli Italiani!

READ technology for the Vittoriale degli Italiani!

It is with immense pleasure that QBT Sagl reports the success of the 3D surveying initiative carried out at Il Vittoriale degli Italiani Foundation with the READ system.

The innovative READ technology was developed to carry out 3D surveys of property interiors, replacing traditional methods of measurement, with automatic reprocessing of the collected data using AI techniques, which allow to classify environments, recognize the objects in them or the imperfections present and derive floor plans.

The presentation of the results will take place in the afternoon of Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Vittoriale auditorium (details to follow).

We look forward to telling you about this wonderful experience that is not only technical but above all historical and human.

The READ technology was created through the collaboration of QBT Sagl with University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, RINA Prime Value Services and Innosuisse.

We thank scientific journalist Luigi Pizzimenti and the President of the Fondazione Il Vittoriale degli Italiani degli Italiani Giordano Bruno Guerri for making the project possible, the results of which were donated to the Vittoriale by the companies involved.
