Sasso San Gottardo, 8 July 2024.
At 11.25 a.m. on Tuesday, 8 July, with the participation of Claude Nicollier, the fourth mission of the Asclepios project officially began. Six students from all over the world will simulate a lunar mission by staying for 15 days in a bunker inside the historic Sasso San Gottardo fortress, which was covered by military secrecy until 2001.
During the mission, the six 'analogue astronauts' will live exactly like real astronauts in space: they will consume the same food, follow a strict programme of scientific experiments and physical activity, and communicate with the outside world exclusively via a control centre meticulously set up inside the fortress.
The start of the mission was preceded by an intensive training programme, during which QBT Sagl was involved in carrying out scientific tests in microgravity conditions and experiencing the sensations astronauts feel in space.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this project!
